"Poet On A Mission"
"Nurturing a new generation of leaders"
Poetess, writer, and producer Zanderland Asante has
been embracing inspiring poems for more than 25 years. Her creative works, like the butterfly, have gone through transformation
. . . moving from the cocoon, emerging into a wingspan of truth and inspiration. “God designs my words and weaves a
fabric of simplicity. I am simply the artist with a willing heart, faithful pen, and an empty canvas,” says Zanderland
(Zan).
“I appreciate the inspiration of poets in my life. My grandfather, the late Pastor J.H. Dixon, who
wrote beautiful pieces, including part of the poem Savior Divine, continues to inspire me. My godmother, the late world
renowned storyteller, Griot Mary Carter Smith, also mentored me through her gift of storytelling,” Zan adds.
As the founder of A Child Trumpet Project, Zanderland is thanking God for the increase. She
is the Founder and CEO of Trumpet Angel Media, A Child Trumpet TV, Poet in
Flight Music, and Creative Seasons Music Publishing.
The Gift that Gives
“God has blessed me tremendously. He can turn tragedy into
triumph,” says Zanderland. Orphaned at the age of eight, she and her older brother Drand were raised by their maternal
grandmother in Syracuse, NY. “I’m thankful for my grandmother, older brother, and other relatives and mentors
who provided guidance.” As a way of giving back, she is pleased to be able to give back A Child Trumpet TV
focusing on young children and teens.
Family is important. Zanderland and her husband Anthony are both ordained ministers. They have two beautiful
children, Kofi, age 16 and Zanbria, age 14. “My husband and children are loving and supportive. They are precious stones.”
